Nepheline

Nepheline is a naturally occurring tectosilicate mineral that contains no free silica . Its chemical formula is Na₃KAl₄Si₄O₁₆, with a hexagonal crystal structure, primarily found in alkaline rocks associated with syenite. It typically appears colorless or white, and is characterized by high aluminum, low silica, and high alkali content (Na₂O + K₂O). Widely used in glass and ceramic manufacturing, it can also serve as a raw material for aluminum extraction. Similar to feldspar but with lower silica content, nepheline plays a critical role across multiple industrial sectors, especially in green manufacturing, energy conservation, emissions reduction, and performance enhancement.

Applications of Nepheline

Ceramics Industry:

• Ceramic Glazes: Nepheline is mainly used as a flux in ceramic glazes. It can effectively reduce the melting temperature of glazes and promote the smooth flow of glaze layers during firing.
